Summary FNV Company Monitor - Akzo Nobel, South Korea
The important conclusions from this case study of Akzo Nobel’s local affiliates in South Korea can be summarised as: First, none of the seven Akzo Nobel affiliates in South Korea have a trade union. Labour-management Councils are operative at workplaces with 30 employees or more. Second, the overall working conditions and company welfare at the 3 Akzo Nobel affiliates surveyed are generally inferior to that of other companies. Third, Akzo Nobel’s local affiliates do not have any adequate plans or strategies to address the issues of social responsibility. As a result, none of the affiliates have implemented any kind of adequate community activities.
