MVO Platform requests John Ruggie to include more concrete guidance on due diligence in the supply chain.
In June 2011 the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Business and Human Rights, Prof John Ruggie, will present his final report to the UN Human Rights Council. This report will include Guiding Principles for the operationalization of the "Protect, Respect and Remedy" Framework.
Among other elements, these Guiding Principles are expected to provide clear guidance on due diligence in the supply chain. In earlier stages of his mandate, Ruggie has taken steps to developthis guidance. The MVO Platform therefore is disappointed that the draft does not contain concrete criteria on responsible supply chain management. As the draft is still open for comments, in her submission the MVO Platform requests John Ruggie to include more concrete guidance and makes suggestions for the content.
