Corporate Accountability should be at the heart of all Dutch economic and diplomatic relations. Embassies and ministers can promote Corporate Accountability by consistently putting it on the agenda during trade missions and when dealing with local contacts.
It is important that embassies have sufficient knowledge and capacity related to Corporate Accountability. The Dutch government should address both companies and local governments.
In the case of frequent violations of Corporate Accountability standards, the Netherlands can offer aid and cooperation – for example, with regards to improving monitoring and enforcement. Whenever possible, the Netherlands should also encourage the European Union to promote Corporate Accountability.
